Four friends get together willing to spend a fun night of "girls only" in the way, while having fun with friends in a bar, a serene match specialist called Specialist Mike. What I do not know is that Mike is a dangerous specialist driver that has been following and with dark intentions. Second part of the movie Grindhouse, the first part has already been mentioned, Planet Terror, and commented that the tribute tacky film is given to the 70, 80. As with Rodriguez's film, it shows the emulation of the genre, with credits and a staging retro and some defects on the tape inconcedibles in modern cinema. Due to the commercial decision to split the movies and project them separately, has had to include additional footage to give it a period "reasonable", but while in Planet Terror, this is not noticeable, even managed to give better appearance to the film, in Death Proof, the film manages to thread lags have worrying levels. And the four friends everyday dialogues may seem fun, but after 5 min start to be frustrating and boring, knowing that they are the target of a peculiar murderer. So, we "swallow" minutes pointless conversations between characters before anything interesting happens. Unfortunately, Tarantino's film is no more than mere anecdote; entertains, but fails to arouse an interest or a hobby at the height of Planet Terror. Kurt Russell shines in his role as Specialist Mike, briefly developed a murderer serene, even sympathetic, but once he shows his cards know that is totally insane and Machiavellian. Also highlight the dramatic use specialist Mike gives his car, a Chevrolet Nova of 70 reinforced for use on accidents and prosecutions of cinema, and as the title indicates, is proof of death.
For if there is any doubt that this film is cast by and for Tarantino, highlighting the excessive scenes foot fetish director confessed that flood the film, do not have to be anything wrong, but I think very well defined, which Tarantino had in mind to do it, a movie for himself ; to please fans of the director, but of course, Death Proof is not, even remotely, Pulp Fiction or Kill Bill, just a prank written by the same director who puts on his passions and some other nod to his recent Kill Bill success.
